Are you prepared for six weeks of Barrel O’Fun at Coopers Square?

Schools may be nearly out, but the fun is only just getting started at Coopers Square – and a barrel lot of it too!

The shopping centre’s incredibly popular, and free, Barrel O’Fun kids’ club is returning for the six-week summer holidays and local children from Burton-upon-Trent will be able to continue their whistle stop history tour every Tuesday from 23 July right through to 27 August, between 10am and 3pm.

Have you ever fancied being a pirate? Or maybe even a knight at King Arthur’s Round Table? What about a victorious Viking? You will get to learn about all of that and more and even earn rewards along the way.

Children will be able to continue to collect a stamp on their loyalty cards each time they attend to continue building up to some great rewards and prizes! By attending three or more of the 10 sessions, you will get a goodie bag full of treats, while those who attend six or more will be rewarded with a sun cap and frisbee.

For those who have been attending Barrel O’Fun, which replaced Snapper Jaxx earlier this year, from the very start, though, and join us for all 10 clubs, you will get a £10 voucher to spend in any store you like in Coopers Square!

More than 250 local children have attended the four events held so far, with more than 70 per cent of those being return visitors.

The full schedule for the next six-week summer holidays of Barrel O’Fun is as follows:

Tuesday 23 July – Everything Egyptian

Tuesday 30 July – Pestilent Pirates

Tuesday 6 August – Knights of the Round Table

Tuesday 13 August – Victorious Vikings

Tuesday 20 August – Amazing Victorians

Tuesday 27 August – Perfect Persians

Speaking ahead of the six weeks of Barrel O’Fun, Coopers Square Centre Manager, David Chadfield, said: “We introduced Barrel O’Fun to give local children something new to look forward to during the school holidays and it has proven to be immensely popular since we launched it this year.

“The themes, activities, actors, props and displays we have got lined up are fantastic and deliver these sessions in a fun, engaging, fascinating and educational way for five hours. To have six consecutive weeks of free kids’ clubs over the summer holidays is really exciting.

“Whether it is pirates, Egyptians, Vikings, Victorians, knights or even Persians you’re interested in, there is something that will entertain everyone as we continue to bring history back to life here at Coopers Square.”

During this six-week period, Coopers Square has also teamed up with the Burton YMCA Food Bank to hold a food bank during each session and is calling on the local community to help them defeat ‘Holiday Hunger’ by donating dried, canned or jarred food.
