Spectators have a ball at Coopers Square Wimbledon Weekend

Wimbledon event is a summer smash for Burton

Families from across town enjoyed the wonderful Wimbledon finals at special live screenings at Coopers Square over the weekend.

To celebrate the end of the tennis tournament, visitors to Coopers Square were able to have a family day out without missing out on the summer spectacular, which was broadcast live on a big screen, with fake grass and deck chairs to replicate Henman Hill.

David Chadfield, Centre Manager said the turnout had been great. “We know there’s a lot of love for Wimbledon here in Burton and we wanted serve up additional entertainment at Coopers Square by showing the gripping final matches and organising some fun activities for all to take part in,” said David.

Locals and visitors enjoyed a host of fun activities including decorating tennis rackets for the little ones, a treasure hunt and table tennis challenges. Refreshments from a variety shops kept guests cool for the nail-biting conclusions on both Saturday and Sunday.

“The point of having Coopers Square Wimbledon Weekend was to enable visitors to have a good day out while enjoying some brilliant sport – we most certainly achieved that. Thank you to everyone who came and made it a superb weekend,” David added.
