Coopers Square Fete raises more than £1,007 for children’s charities

Burton showed its kindness at ‘One Great Day’ event

Scores of people from across Burton attended Coopers Square Fete – the shopping centre’s annual charity event – to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and Donnna Louise Children’s Hospice in Staffordshire.

Coopers Square was one of 140 shopping centres in the country involved in One Great Day – a national campaign of events, which are taking place throughout June to generate funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and other children’s charities.

Coopers Square Fete was a fun-packed event, with activities across the centre including a tombola, raffles, face painting, magic and more, being enjoyed by children and adults alike. David Chadfield, Centre Manager at Coopers Square said shoppers and event-goers had hours of family fun: “It was lovely to see all walks of life brought together by these two amazing charities.”

The event raised more than £1,007, with donations still coming in, which will be distributed equally between the two charities.  David said: “We’re really grateful for all the fundraising efforts at the fete. The generosity of the people in Burton knows no bounds and the funds will make a great difference to many children across the UK, which is fantastic.”

The money donated to Donna Louise Children’s Hospice  – which provides quality palliative care for children, young people and their families in Staffordshire – will directly help local children within the region.

David concluded: “Thank you to everyone who came to support our incredible charities and made One Great Day such a wonderful fundraiser.”

For anyone wishing to make a contribution, Coopers Square is still accepting donations, which can be made at the Centre Management office.
