Barrel O’Fun continues at Coopers Square

Children got groovy with the Ancient Greeks at the Burton upon Trent shopping centre on Tuesday 16 April. At Barrel O’Fun, the free kids activity, youngsters learnt all about the gods of Mount Olympus, made their own Greek masks and took part in stories that shaped the world we live in today.

Barrel O’Fun, which replaces the popular Snapper Jaxx free kids’ activities, offers unique, engaging and interactive takes on moments in time, with each session themed around different aspects of world history. From the Ice Age and Knights of the Round Table to the Persians and pirates, each era gets the Barrel O’Fun treatment.

The fun doesn’t stop with a trip back to the Parthenon this Easter, anyone who missed the latest event can join in again on Tuesday 23 April, when it’s time to meet the Romans. Youngsters will find out exactly how some Roman creations are still a part of our day-to-day lives, including straight roads, numerals and even toilets!

Coopers Square Centre Manager, David Chadfield said that he was pleased to see children getting involved. “We’ve had such a great response to Barrel O’Fun that we’re really excited to welcome children back to Coopers Square on 23 April. This new activity gives children the chance to learn in an enjoyable way whilst taking part in the great activities that they’ve come to expect from kids’ clubs at Coopers Square.”

A Barrel O’Fun day wouldn’t be complete without getting crafty. The Romans session will also include the opportunity to create something fitting with the theme of the day.

There’s also a loyalty scheme, meaning that children who attend three sessions and get their cards stamped will get a goodie bag, and anyone who makes six or 10 visits will get silver and gold prizes respectively.

Each event is free to attend and takes place from 10am-3pm. There’s no need to book, just drop in.
